VP/Director Product Engineering

 

The Position

Horton Pedestrian Access Solutions, the leader in automatic entrance solutions is seeking our next Product Engineering leader. The position will lead the effort to plan, manage and execute development of product portfolio to achieve strategic growth objective and enhance market competitiveness through development, quality, sales, and customer support.

 

Responsibilities

  • Drives the development of new Pedestrian Access Solutions in support of key target market growth initiatives.
  • Define the objectives, processes and policies of the engineering organization that supports the overall business strategy
  • Manage department of mechanical, software and electrical engineers, CAD Designers, draftsman and Technical Support Department. As well as the I.T. Department.
  • Oversee the new product development effort to ensure that a healthy pipeline of new products is being developed and that new products are launched in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical leadership with process control, electro/mechanical design, mentoring and supervision to department. 
  • Establish department goals, metrics and organize workforce to accomplish within budget and on schedule. 
  • Identifies new technologies to explore for possible incorporation into the product line.
  • Participate in Executive staff providing insight to strategic company issues. 
  • Staffing, administration and budgetary responsibilities within the Research and Development department.
  • Supports the transit market segment and transit product development if needed.
  • Provide expert advice to legal and technical customer service in product complaints, technology or product matters involved in product liability litigation.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the development of new products
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in leading a Product Development Department in an engineered to order environment.
  • Thorough understanding of UL, ANSI standards as well as the National Building Code. Knowledge of the European Norms is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Solid Works.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) to support a team environment.
  • Excellent leadership coupled with high energy and drive.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to execute and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to travel anywhere by any means.
  • Must perform well under stress and have the ability to multitask. 

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is required
  • Project Management certification a plus.
