Door Services Corporation is a business unit of Horton Automatics, an Overhead Door Corporation company.  Door Services offers installation and maintenance of the doors manufactured by Horton Automatics (commercial sliders, optical turnstyles, revolving doors, swinging / folding doors, etc.)

Job Summary:

This full-time position will be in charge of creating a curriculum of learning for Automatic Door Service Technicians and Installers.  The ideal candidate will work with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to design and develop learning that will correlate with business needs. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers and technicians.
  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of leadership, soft skills and technical field service training for employees.
  • Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
  • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
  • Identify and implement knowledge assessments to verify knowledge transfer.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Develop training specifically for adult learners using incorporated standard adult learning theories.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Principles and standards of instructional design and learning theory
  • Adult learning best practices
  • Project Management
  • Audio and Video editing
  • Ability to write effective instructional text, audio and video scripts.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, or a related field required.
  • ATD Certification a plus.
  • Previous working experience in instructional design and/or training for 5 years.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work in the field as needed to obtain training videos.
