Seeking a Sr. Software Engineer with a passion to push Internet-of-Things technologies to their limits. Will need to collaborate with our team of talented engineers to design and build the next generation of our cloud-operated products.

This position will demand an extensive talent base and offers challenges to conceive complex integrations of devices with fast, reliable operation, accurate status and diagnostic services for remote users. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Design, build, configure, enhance and maintain core AWS cloud IoT platform and integration interfaces. 
  • Develop, test, debug and release software to AWS in support of multiple product versions to meet user-specific and brand-specific targets along with market driven partner integration requirements.
  • Convert system-level user-stories into the core software components, frameworks, architecture, messages, and storage definitions that establish the core requirements for cloud-based platform. 
  • Refine system definitions into software requirements and create design documents. 
  • Track industry trends and maintain knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise's cloud architecture needs. 
  • Develop and document the framework for integration and implementation of changes to technical standards. Assist in the development and management of an architecture governance process. 
  • Create automated infrastructures within AWS, including package management, application load and configuration, and systems monitoring and administration. 
  • Coordinate, participate and collaborate with other engineers in the team to create, build, and safely deploy APIs, web services, and micro-services. 
  • Work closely with peers in Engineering, QA and Customer Support teams to reach overall company objectives. 
  • Review and improve the performance of cloud platform, applications and infrastructure.
  • Capably interact in a team environment and work with engineering staff to achieve the best possible products from all functional viewpoints. 

  • BS/MS: Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, STEM or similar.
Experience / Skills Required: 
  • 5+ years of developing service-oriented applications with event based or message-oriented architectures preferably using microservices.
  • 5+ years of back-end development experience using proven design patterns.
  • 5+ years of programming background in Java, Python, JavaScript/Node.js, Ruby, lua or Go.
  • 5+ years of designing, developing and operating robust and highly-scalable SaaS infrastructure, preferably IoT deployments on cloud. 
  • Experience working with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, ECS, EKS).
  • Deep understanding of implementation intricacies of secure and scalable back-end and front-end APIs in cloud-based environments. 
  • Strong working knowledge with various databases including of RDS, SQL and NoSQL. 
  • Knowledge of cloud-based IoT technologies including MQTT, WebSockets, and Notification engines.
  • Knowledge standard networking protocols and network/system security, including firewalls, VPN, VPC, routing, switching, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, HTTPS, DHCP, load balancers, monitoring, security and DNS.
  • Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services. 
  • Knowledge of industry tools including Git, GitHub, BitBucket, and JIRA. 
  • Proven knowledge of software lifecycle and software engineering methodology. 
  • Proven understanding of enterprise security. 
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. 
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience developing on AWS and leveraging core AWS services.
  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code automation tools (Terraform, Cloudformation)
  • App or server-side development of cloud-connected IoT-based systems. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins, Bamboo)
  • Familiarity with Cloud Application Platforms such as Heroku, Twilio or Exosite Murano. 
  • Past implementations using cloud-to-cloud interfaces, HomeKit over WiFi, HomePod, Alexa skills, Siri voice, IFTTT or Google Home. 
  • Understanding and hands on experience with VMs. 
  • Certified AWS Solution Architect is a plus.
