The Position 

  • Improve quality of product through new concepts, research and development, and process changes.  Investigates building codes and certifying agency requirements for windload compliance.
  • Responsible for designing and developing a product/product family.
  • Ensures production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel.
  • Tests finished product for quality purposes and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.  Creates submittal to obtain certifications, and maintains certifications with appropriate agencies for Windoad product families.


  • Create new designs using applicable design software.
  • Owns the design of a product/product family.
  • Perform product performance testing to determine load, stress, wind resistance, and performance dynamics.
  • Enhance product line and process capabilities and meet customer expectations in quality and service and product design. 
  • Implement product drawing and system changes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of special engineered orders.
  • Analyze product or equipment specification and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities or methods. 
  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Directs and coordinates fabrications and installation activities to ensure products and systems conforms to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Designs products to interface with machines, hardware, and software.
  • Oversees testing activities, including windload test chamber.
  • Prepares test reports and coordinates 3rd party PE witnessing.
  • Prepares applications and submittals to certifying agencies.
  • Maintains comprehension of applicable codes such as FBC and TDI.


  • Minimum 5 years' experience in design engineering application.
  • Experience working with AutoCad, SolidWorks, and other applicable design software.
  • PE certification preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with project management.


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering degree or other applicable degree.
