The RF Lab Technician will be responsible for all aspects of RF testing and equipment maintenance at TREQ during all phases of the design process.  The RF Lab Technician will need to have a good working knowledge of RF fundamentals as well as significant experience with associated test equipment and techniques.  
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all RF related testing, including emissions and immunity, according to published and internal standards. 
  • Serve as a team resource on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and issue resolution.
  • Create and modify test specifications where required. 
  • Properly conduct testing, and accurately collect test data.
  • Prepare formal test reports following established formats, clearly and accurately documenting test set-up, methodology, results and conclusions.
  • Maintain all associated lab equipment including calibration and repair where required.
  • Maintain all necessary lab records, documents, forms and logs.
  • Mechanical assembly and disassembly of various products.
  • Sample handling and tracking for test purposes.
  • Perform assembly, modification and installation work following Engineering instruction.
  • Build or modify test fixtures when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical systems. 
  • Ability to read and utilize electronic schematics and wire diagrams.  
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two years of post-secondary education (college or trade school) with an emphasis on engineering or engineering technology.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience is also required with at least 3 years of solid experience in an RF laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in RF testing, including experience with professional-level RF test equipment and FCC certification testing
  • Ability to lift 60 + pounds.    
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good organizational skills and ability to maintain a clean work environment. 
  • Basic computer skills required including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with basic tools including drills, saws, hand tools, multi-meters and data loggers. 
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently to accomplish tasks.  

Desired Qualifications:

  • Consumer appliance, electronic or similar product experience a plus.
  • Experience with programming software (C++, Labyiew, VB).
  • Experience in a new product development environment.
  • Experience with published industry standards (FCC, IEC, ISO, Mil, UL, IEEE).
  • Experience with electronics soldering of through hole and SMT PCB assemblies.
