Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive quality objectives for the local manufacturing organization plus champion customer quality focus in activities with local Engineering and Manufacturing Teams.
  • Effectively leverage business process understanding, customer data analysis, and quality engineering tools to influence and support business partners to drive quality improvements and achieve key business results.
  • Supports manufacturing plant with quality assurance programs to ensure product is built in accordance with customer and company specifications while maintaining smooth production flow.
  • Ensures that product quality is attained through fulfillment of workmanship standards and quality program requirements.
  • Creates/reviews all related quality documentation and procedures to ensure product quality.
  • Identifies, reports and leads corrective action activities to resolve quality problems.
  • Generates and implements defect-reduction activities.
  • Able to travel to Mexico production plant to audit effectiveness of corrective actions implemented in the manufacturing shop-floor.
  • Travel less than 10% of the time to visit suppliers and Manufacturing plants within the US and Mexico
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is desired, not a requirement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering is required.
  • Greater than 5 years industrial experience in which candidate had responsibility for the development and implementation of product and / or process quality is preferred.
  • Experience in process engineering is preferred.
  • Expertise in ISO / QS / TS type quality systems, training certification is preferred. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Candidate must be able to influence team dynamics regarding quality goals, deliver constructive feedback and provide quality leadership in a cross functional environment.
  • Experience with Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Supplier qualification processes including PPAP reviews, 8D corrective action methods, Basic and Intermediate Statistical Analysis, Six Sigma and Lean Methods, plus ability to read / analyze engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • MRP/ERP systems, Oracle is preferred

Education

  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Science Engineering or BS in Applied Sciences is required (minimum 3 years of quality engineering experience will be considered).
