General Function:

Mechanical Engineer engaged in the design and development of relatively complex electro-mechanical designs from concept to production.  Product Development Team member primarily focused on designing new products, activities to include: competitive product analysis, cost benefit analysis (as related to mechanical design), development of mechanical systems for new products.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the application of principles of industrial design, materials science, thermal engineering, and mechanical engineering in the design of packaging (plastics, sheet metal, and/or castings), and complex electro-mechanical devices (motors, gearing, mechanical linkages).
  • Conceive and develop 3D part designs, manage 3D assemblies, and create detailed 2D drawings using Solidworks.
  • Demonstrated solid analytical skills which should include FEA, statistical analysis, DOE, DFMEA, DFM, and tolerance stacking analysis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Six Sigma DMAIC methodology.
  • Experience in producing and reviewing part designs and tooling for injection molding, castings, and steel stampings.
  • Participate in updating and maintaining mechanical development processes and procedures
  • Must be capable of interacting in a team environment and working with others to achieve the best possible end product from all functional viewpoints.


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering

Experience/Skills Required:

  • 4-7 years mechanical design and integration experience for electro-mechanical products
  • Previous experience producing products for high volume commercial manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering methodology
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Notice Processes (ECN/ECR’s). Experience with design for compliance (UL or regulatory) or compliance testing is required, experience with safety-critical systems is preferred.
