Position Function:            

 

Plans, develops, designs, and implements domestic or global marketing programs for assigned product(s). Coordinates and oversees the execution of advertising and promotional programs to ensure profits meet objectives. Negotiates with outside vendor as appropriate. Researches, identifies, and evaluates potential new products. Coordinates the initial stages of product planning and development among marketing, sales, finance, engineering, and manufacturing in order to ensure the successful introduction of products into the marketplace.  Ensures that products are marketed in accordance with budgeted objectives to obtain maximum profitability and sales volume. Continually evaluates the timely adjustment of marketing strategies and plans to respond to changing markets and competitive conditions. Provides marketing advice and guidance to various distributors.  Promotes, directs and assists sales activities among selected types of customers or prospects.  Contacts existing customers, resolves and/or refers customer problems to appropriate function, and provides information for sales forecasts.  Collects and analyzes data on established and prospective customers and on competitors. Prepares reports that interpret market conditions and potentials. Plans, directs the development of the communications program for assigned products and manages the implementation of the material. Conducts research and develops text describing the company and its products and markets. Provides ideas for the organization’s Web Site structure. Ensures the new information is regularly added to the site and all other communications media.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. Develops, evaluate and continually review marketing programs for assigned products to ensure the programs meet the established objectives.

2. Investigate the competition and research and identify potential new products that will assist the organization in gaining a competitive edge over our competition.

3. Develop and provide product information for internal and external use to ensure sales and distributor personnel have the tools to sell our products.

4.  Develop and continually evaluate the pricing structure of assigned product line to ensure the Company maintains a profit margin on the product line and the Company remains competitive with the marketplace.

5. Coordinates the initial stages of product planning and development among marketing, sales, finance, engineering, and manufacturing in order to ensure the successful introduction of products into the marketplace.

6. Represent the Company at various trade shows, ensuring that our products are displayed appropriately and that the right communication material is available for distribution.

7. Negotiates with outside vendor and internal departments as appropriate.

8. Plans, directs the development of the communications program for assigned products and manages the implementation of the material.

9. Promotes, directs and assists sales activities among selected types of customers or prospects and provides information for sales forecasts.

10. Provides ideas for the organization’s Web Site structure and ensure the new information is regularly added to the site and all other communications media.

11. Evaluates the timely adjustment of marketing strategies and plans to respond to changing markets and provides marketing advice and guidance to various distributors.

 

Other Responsibilities

 

  1. Prepares reports that interpret market conditions and potentials.
  2. Assist distributors in the installation of the product and provide technical support as required.
  3. Provide expert witness testimony and deposition support for legal activities.
  4. Insure product line application is in compliance with current building and performance code requirements such as UL, Intertek, ETL, ICBO, BOCA, ANSI/BHMA etc. standards.

 

Skills/Experience Requirements

 

  • Requires 8+ years of work experience in product management, preferably in construction-related industry.
  • Solid project management skills
  • Strong decision-making requiring detail analysis and investigation with solutions requiring original thinking and a high degree of judgment significantly affecting multiple areas of the Company.
  • Ability to see the big picture, build a team-oriented approach to problem solving and analyze the marketplace to ensure the Company remains competitive.
  • Required to establish objectives that affect the marketing function of the assigned product line.
  • Demeanor and bearing that will garner the respect of peers and subordinates.
  • Customer service orientation and emphasis on results, diplomacy, multitasking and priority setting.
  • Expert user of MS Office (Top 3% Excel user)
  • Able to develop predictive models with solid understand of statistical analysis and linear programming modeling
  • Experience with agency management and digital marketing
  • Above average persuasive writing skills
  • Expense budget preparation and management

 

Education Requirements

 

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Product Management or related studies.  Prefer a Master’s degree in Business.
  • 8 to 10 years of related experience and/or training.

 

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

 

  • Ability to use personal computer, ten key calculator, copy machine, fax, telephone, presentation systems and printers.
  • MS Office, MRP system and JDE.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools and diagnostic instruments.
  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Highly focused, intense visual requirements, ability to read and write.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to travel to various parts of the country by any means available.
