Position Function:

This position reports to our VP / GM of Sales & Marketing and requires an experienced, dedicated, self-motivated individual who will develop, manage, and execute the long-range and annual brand marketing plan and activities for The Genie Company, a division of Overhead Door Corporation.  This includes marketing planning and budgeting, brand positioning and communications, new product ideation and launch, promotional planning and execution, market research and customer/segment marketing.  Interact with all organizational levels and customer base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Planning and Budgeting

  • Develop and implement the marketing objectives, strategies, and the long-range and annual plans for assigned brands lines.
  • Develops and Manages marketing budget and forecasts spending for assigned brands lines. 
  • Monitors performance measurements to ensure sales volume and share objectives are accomplished.

Brand Positioning and Communications

  • Develop meaningful consumer positioning for all assigned brands that creates added value versus competitive offerings and effectively communicates product advantages to target audience(s).
  • Clear understanding of Social Media platforms and leverage points to maximize ROI
  • Identifies target audience(s).
  • Manages all messaging, media and creative for the brand, including coop programs, with distributors and dealers that will be delivered through a variety of media including ad campaigns, websites, packaging, brochures, sales presentations, case studies, white papers, webcasts, e-mail, trade shows and events.
  • Develops consistent and innovative PR strategies supporting the brand to the target audience(s).  Develops compelling campaigns with ROI to support the investment
  • Manages the information exchange with the general media and industry publications.
  • Conducts interviews and develops content for press releases.
  • Seeks and manages, as appropriate, corporation reputation-building activities.

New Product Development

  • Works with key product management, agency partners, creative consumers, creative end-users, distributors, dealers, customers, engineering, and sales personnel to lead ideation sessions for new product development.
  • Creatively identifies opportunities for growth by effectively utilizing market research, competitive analysis, and trend analysis.
  • Manage the development and implementation of the launch kit for all new product launches working together with the Product Business Teams.

Promotional Planning and Execution

  • Drives promotional and sponsorship strategy, tactics, and execution.
  • Works with vendors to create promotional/sponsorship ideas that support the brand, delivers on consumer/trade/segment objectives, and delivers sales growth.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of promotional programs and sponsorships.

Market Research

  • Develops the learning plan for the brand and works with vendors to initiate market research. Interprets primary and secondary market research learning to create actionable and meaningful marketing programs.
  • Develops and analyzes syndicated data, POS, and sales reports to identify key issues, trends, and opportunities to drive growth.

Customer/Segment/Trade Marketing

  • Works with the sales organization to ensure that corporate objectives are met and that our strategies and programs are effectively implemented.
  • Effectively works with the sales organization to increase distribution and drive local marketing activities where applicable.
  • Actively participates and assists account management personnel in the presentation of category strategies, plans, and promotions to the key customers/trade
  • Works with sales to develop programs (e.g., special packaging, promotional events, merchandising systems, marcom materials, etc.) for account / segment / trade–specific opportunities that contribute to business growth.

Skills/Experience Requirements

  • Results-oriented with a strong record of execution and accountability.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple high-priority projects and activities with strict deadlines and limited internal staff and budget.
  • Good written and verbal skills, strong editing skills with a great attention to detail.  A good eye for graphic layout.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.  Ability to gather, coordinate and synthesize data to develop understanding of key insights.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to influence cross-functionally with the ability to lead/manage, mentor, coach and develop others.
  • Creative out-of-the–box thinker.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office Applications: Excel, Word, and Power Point.

Education Requirements

  • BA/BS Marketing or Business; MBA or master’s in marketing preferred
  • 8 – 10 years of progressively responsible brand/marketing experience, preferably in a CPG or Consumer Durables company.
