Position Function

The Division Controller will lead all of the Door Services business and financial functions.  This individual will have the latitude to select, develop, lead, motivate, coach, and manage his / her direct and indirect reports.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support Door Services business planning process to include: annual budget planning, monthly forecasting process, interim estimates, strategic planning process, fixed asset maintenance, and cost center reporting. 

  • Review on a monthly basis actual performance against budget and variations from plan.

  • Assist Door Services management to implement changes as may be required to achieve plan performance.

  • Reporting as required from Corporate and Horton.

  • Establish operating procedures consistent with the Company’s broad policies and objectives and ensure their execution.

  • Insure corporate policies regarding financial management and control are in place and adhered to.

  • Maintain a sound plan of organization, including plans to ensure adequate management development, providing for capable management succession and ensuring adequate numbers and qualifications of personnel within the Division.

  • Evaluate the results of operations using periodic financial and budgetary statements (regularly and systematically), formulating and implementing corrections for observed deviations from expectations, and report the same to the VP of Finance for the division.

  • Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood, and monitoring performance of subordinates against expectations.

  • Accuracy of the financial records, including the balance sheet research and accruals.

  • Financial control to safeguard company assets to ensure compliance with all GAAP requirements and reporting controls needed to meet JSOX standards.

  • Plan, direct and / or coordinate all financial reporting and budgeting.

  • Assist in the preparation of short-term and long-term operational goals, plans, and expense and capital equipment budgets based on the division’s goals and growth objectives.

  • Provide management with sound and timely reports regarding the current and anticipated state of the business.

  • Interact with Corporate Tax and Treasury Department as required to ensure that accounting and control practices are coordinated with Corporate Tax and Treasury strategy.

  • Plan, direct and coordinate accounts receivable management, setting credit guidelines etc. and collections of those receivables.

  • Work and communicate with Division staff and customers in a professional and proactive manner.

  • Participate in M&A responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant with strong knowledge of GAAP.

  • Excellent personal computing skills – Microsoft Office.

  • 10-15 years of work experience, 3-5 with a public accounting firm in the audit discipline and the remainder in industry with a manufacturing company (preferably Fortune 500 with > 250K in sales).

  • Must possess an effective management style, be capable of assessing situations, and be proactive as part of the operator management team.

  • This person is proactive, decisive, and motivational; sensitive to employee relations issues.

  • He / she should be knowledgeable in internal accounting control and procedures.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent leadership capabilities, and excellent problem identification and solving.

  • Strong aptitude for analyzing manufacturing and distribution operations.

  • Has developed and managed annual operation and manufacturing budgets and is familiar with union and non-union plant environments.

  • This individual is energetic and possesses a leadership style is developmental, patient, but firm; is highly organized persistent, bottom line focused, and able to hire and motivate superior talent; and is the type of individual who can build trust and confidence, is honest and truly enjoys working in a “make it happen” environment in which enthusiasm for the company’s products, mission, and service offerings is contagious.

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • MBA in account / finance, CMA and/or CPA are preferred
