Director of Marketing

To manage and support all marketing services and brand development activities for The Genie Company, a Division of Overhead Door Corporation. Ultimate responsibility for successful introduction of new products and services to the marketplace, in addition to the product pipeline with the Company’s defined strategic plan. Interact with all organizational levels and broad customer base.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead and adjust (recommend changes) for the organization marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Establish brand strategy, advertising strategy, and create a firm co-op advertising program.
- Develops annual marketing plan in support of organizational strategy and objectives.
- Create a portfolio of new products and services with the product development and brand managers that supports the existing channel and product strategies.
- Build upon existing Product Roadmaps and brand strategy to develop new strategic plans.
- Systematically deploy and execute the New Product Development process across products and functions. Establish a cross-functional, Product Business Team structure across the existing product categories.
- Explore and develop new opportunities – through products, channels, processes, technologies, voice of the customer, etc. Link to existing brand strategies and overall strategic plan.
- Manage a department of 8-10, including product managers, brand managers, channel managers, and marketing managers.
- Participate in development of departmental bench strength activities and talent pool process.
- Direct planning, development and execution of strategic marketing and communications initiatives for three brands across retail and professional distribution channels, as well as architectural programs.
- Develop and implement marketing materials for product and brand programs from concept to launch, in tandem with internal and external client teams. Includes sourcing, selecting and managing inside and outside resources to design innovative and creative concepts aligned with target market audiences. Direct product launches and campaigns with product development and cross functional launch teams.
- Strategic planning, budget planning and supervision of budget. Estimate project costs, negotiate pricing and produce and manage spending forecasts.
- Develop, budget and execute brand advertising and co-op strategies across channels. Work with respective sales teams on planning and maintaining rolling calendars for promotions and marketing programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing (or equivalent). Master’s degree preferred.
- Marketing management experience of 10 years or more; should have knowledge of manufacturing environment and sales organizations / channels, preferably in consumer durable or packaged goods
- Proven track history of major product line launches and brand/ product management in high volume retail environment.
- Must be able to coordinate with outside agencies and inside creative resources, which includes clear communication of the projects’ objectives, design and cost parameters, creative strategies and timelines. Proven ability to prioritize and communicate with customer base on delivery dates and manage expectations.
- Able to work in a fast moving, dynamic organization with multiple customers.
- Able to manage and supervise staff, including giving and receiving feedback on behavior as well as hiring responsibilities. Must be able to keep commitment dates and motivate employees to maintain excellent customer relationships, and build trust through executing projects on time and in budget.
- Good oral and written presentation skills. Will be interfacing with all levels of organization internally as well as key customers’ management.
- Good problem-solving skills are essential. Action and results oriented.
- Able to produce effective campaigns with little internal direction… must be a self-starter and learn the business.
- Must have customer service skills to talk to distributors, vendors, customers, etc.
